Coconut Burfi is made with coconut powder combined with a cardamom flavored sugar syrup. This is a scrumptious dessert or snack. Coconut burfi / thengai burfi is very easy to make and only with few ingredients. Easy step by step photos method, without sugar syrup consistency.

Steps to make Dry Coconut Burfi:
  1. In a large bowl take the desiccated coconut and mix warm milk it.
  2. Stir well cover and keep aside for an hour.
  3. Heat ghee in a pan add the milk soaked coconut.
  4. Saute on a low flame for 2 to 3 minutes and keep aside.
  5. Now lets start making sugar syrup. In a deep bottom kadai add sugar and water. The water should be sufficient to soak all the sugar.
  6. Mix the water and the sugar on a low flame and stirring occasionally.
  7. Add yellow food colour and mix well.
  8. Now cook the syrup till get 1n1/2 thread consistency.
  9. Now add coconut powder in the syrup. Mix well and cook for 3-4minutes.
  10. Add rose essence and mix well.
  11. When mixture will thicken and will come away from the sides of the kadai. At this stage turn off the flame.
  12. Cut into square shape and allow it to cool completely.
  13. Separate the Coconut Burfi and serve or store in an airtight container.
