Pulusu is a stew that is made often in Andhra homes. Today's recipe is cooking okra in tamarind gravy along with jaggery and chili powder. Ullipaya Pulusu is a name I figured out from Google search. Instructions to make Pulusu Pindi:
  1. Take a vessel and keep on the stove with one spoon of oil in it. When oil gets heated up add 4 cups of water and little salt.
  2. When water comes to boil, add 2 cups of raw rice rawa and keep mixing it until it is cooked. Once cooked, shift the content to a broad place and let it cool down.
  3. Meanwhile, soak a lemon sized Tamarind in the lukewarm water for about 10-15 mins.
  4. Switch on the flame and start to slow cook the soaked tamarind juice and vertically sliced green chillies until it's consistency becomes slightly thick.
  5. Now, add a little turmeric, Curry leaves and thickened tamarind paste to the cooked rice rawa.
  6. Temper it with Gram dal, Urad dal, Mustard seeds, Cumin seeds, Red chillies and Ground nuts in oil with a punch of asafoetida at the end.
  7. Add this tempering to the rice rawa and mix well.
  8. Serve it with Yogurt on the side and a homemade pickle of your choice
