  1. Make ready 3 cup freshly grated coconut
  2. Get 1 cup milk
  3. Take 1/2 cup milk powder
  4. Take 1 cup sugar
  5. Take 3 tbsp ghee
  6. Take pinch Pink food color
  7. Get 1/4 cup desiccated coconut
  8. Get As needed Almonds to garnish

Fresh grated coconut in cardamom flavoured sugar syrup. Coconut Burfi is made with coconut powder combined with a cardamom flavored sugar syrup. This is a scrumptious dessert or snack. Coconut burfi / thengai burfi is very easy to make and only with few ingredients.

Instructions to make Coconut Burfi:
  1. In a pan take coconut, milk, sugar, milk powder and mix well
  2. Add ghee and switch on flame
  3. Mix well and cook on medium flame until it becomes together like dough
  4. When mixture comes together & releases pan immediately transfer half mixture to plate & give a square shape to mixture
  5. In remaining mixture add desiccated coconut, food color and cook on medium flame till mixture thickens.
  6. Once it comes together switch off flame and transfer the mixture on previous coconut layer.
  7. Let it set at room temperature for at least an hour.
  8. Cut burfi in pieces & garnish with sliced almonds.

Easy step by step photos method, without sugar syrup consistency. I wonder why I have not attempted to make this. Coconut Burfi / Thengai Burfi is hubbys fav and my MIL is an expert in making this. To me she makes the best coconut burfis - perfect in texture and shape too. As diwali is nearing, I wanted to try this.
