  2. Prepare 5 amlas
  3. Make ready 3 tsp oil
  4. Make ready 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds

  6. Take 1 tsp Urad and Chana dal
  7. Take 4 Green chillies
  8. Prepare 2 Red chillies
  9. Take 2 tsp Ground nuts

  12. Make ready 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  13. Get 1 sprig curry leaves
  14. Prepare 1 tsp Coriander leaves
  15. Take 1 pinch Hing

Pulihora is a classic Andhra rice dish that is most commonly made with tamarind (as Chintapandu Pulihora). However, you can make it with any. This Amla rice / Usirikaya Pulihora recipe is new to me , few weeks ago I saw this in a newspaper and immediately tried with some left over rice and few amla lying in my refrigerator. How to Prepare Amla Rice Usirikaya Pulihora (ఉసిరికాయ పులిహోర).

Instructions to make Amla rice || Usirikaya Pulihora:
  1. Soak rice for 15 mins, for 1 glass rice add 2 glasses of water and 1/2 tsp of oil and cook it.
  2. Clean Amla and tap it with dry cloth.
  3. Cut Amla into pieces and remove the seeds
  4. Take a mixer jar add Amla pieces and 1 green chilli. Grind it coarse paste.
  5. Spread the cooked rice in plate and let it cool.
  6. Take a Kadhai add 2 1/2 tsp of oil let it heat for a second then add mustard seeds once it starts splutting then add urad and Chana dal, ground nuts, cashew nuts, once it starts changing colour then add jeera, green and red chillies, curry leaves. Fry everything well on medium low flame and add hing.
  7. Now add coarsely grind amla paste, turmeric powder and salt, mix everything well.
  8. Now add the seasoning on the rice mix everything well and garnish it with coriander leaves.
  9. Tasty and yummy Amla rice || Usirikaya pulihora is ready to serve. To enjoy this pulihora serve it with Papads and sun dried chillies and enjoy
